1. What guarantee does the X-Ray Remote Converter have?It’s OK to change your mind! If you are unhappy with your X-Ray Remote Converter for ANY reason, let us know and we’ll refund your money in a flash! We try to keep this guarantee to 30 days after your purchase, but talk to us and we’ll work with you to resolve any issue you may have. We also offer a warranty for 1 year against defects in the manufacturing of the X-Ray Remote Converter. Basically this means that if anything goes wrong and the workmanship is to blame, we’ll replace the unit as fast as we can (which is very fast indeed) at absolutely no cost to you.

2. How much range does the X-Ray Remote Converter have?
The X-Ray Remote Converter is very effective and powerful but its range depends on how many walls, floors and TV cabinets you are operating through. In the vast majority of installations it is reliable up to 100 feet (or 30 metres). We have installed the X-Ray Remote Extender in a UK farmhouse with 4-feet thick walls and it still worked! We ALWAYS refund purchases if it doesn’t work for you so we recommend purchasing a unit to try out at home. If it doesn’t work out, just return it for a full refund.

3. Can I use the UFO receiver as a blaster?
It is possible to use the UFO as a ‘blaster’ to blast the signal to your AV equipment instead of using the 1 eye emitter. To use the UFO as a blaster we recommend you place the UFO in a closed space with your AV equipment or across the room more than 15 feet away.

4. How many electronic devices can I connect to a single receiver?
You can connect up to six electronic devices to your receiver using our 3-eye or 6-eye emitters. Each electronic device will require an infra-red emitter positioned close to its IR receiver and each remote control will require a transmitter.

5. Why is my remote is sending a double/multiple signals?
This can happen when the infra-red signal from your remote control sends a signal and the RF transmitter sends a signal, resulting in a double signal. If this happens simply apply some opaque or coloured tape over the infra-red emitter on your remote control.It also happens when the signal is too strong. You can try flicking the switch on the base of the UFO to C, which is a weaker signal.

6. How can I find the infra-red sensor on my DVD player, TV or satellite box?
Try finding it by shinning a flashlight at the front of your device to help locate the IR sensor. This will help you to see through the dark plastic lens.

7. Is there another way to charge the batteries because the receiver is not accessible? What do you recommend or have?
There is a stand alone USB charger. You simply place the battery in the charging sleeve, plug it into the USB port on your computer and in 2-3 hours the battery is charged.

8. Will the X-Ray Remote Converter interfere with my other remote control extenders?
You will have problems running more than one of the 433MhZ units in the house at one time – as IR blasters, the receivers are quite powerful. If you wanted to run 2 in one house, we could provide you with a US version transmitting on 418MhZ. It does come with a US plug but other than the transmission frequency, it is identical to the 433 version.We do have a newly developed model which will be available this year which will have 5 frequency addresses between 418 and 433.

9. What frequency does the X-Ray Remote Converter operate on?
433MhZ.

10. Can I charge alkaline batteries in the UFO?
No. The UFO is especially made to charge the mini-batteries supplied. Attempting to charge another battery in the UFO may result in damage to the battery and to the UFO and will void your warranty.

11. How long does the battery last?
Your battery life depends on how often you use your remote and how much energy your remote uses. You can expect to get 3 – 6 months out of your battery before you need to swap it with the one charging in the UFO.

12. Does the RF transmitter kit work with Universal remotes?
Yes. The system is designed to work with any remote control that uses AA or AAA batteries. Very occasionally we come across a remote control that for some reason doesn’t play nicely with the X-Ray Remote Converter. In these rare cases we offer a full refund, no questions asked.

Checklist for Installation

  • Connect the power supply to the UFO receiver and plug it into mains power
  • Insert one of the mini batteries in the base of the UFO and charge for 24 hours. Once you insert a battery for charging the CHG BAT light will begin flashing

When the mini battery is charged:

  • Put the mini battery inside the transmitter sleeve. The transmitter sleeve is metallic and has the words “RF Transmitter” on it
  • Replace one of the batteries in your remote control with the transmitter sleeve. If your remote control takes AA batteries you’ll need to put the transmitter sleeve into the grey sleeve before inserting into your remote control
  • Plug the single-eye emitter into the UFO and place the infra-red eye at the end of the cable by your AV equipment’s IR receiver. Peel off the adhesive tape on the bottom to secure the infra-red eye
  • Place the second mini battery in the base of the UFO to charge it. When the battery in your remote control runs out of juice just swap them over.

Note: Once the second mini battery is fully charged (approx. 24 hours) it will remain on ‘trickle’ charge until used. Leaving a fully charged battery in the UFO will not damage it. Things to check if your remote control doesn’t work through walls after installation First thing to try:

  • Check that the remote control works when used normally (i.e. with normal batteries).
  • The batteries may be inserted incorrectly
  • The batteries may be running low. Replace with new batteries just to be sure

Second thing to try:

  • If the remote control works when used normally but not when the transmitter is inserted:
  • Swap the positions of the transmitter and the normal battery in your remote control
  • Check that the battery has been inserted into the transmitter sleeve correctly
  • Check that both the battery and the transmitter has been inserted into the remote control the correctly
  • Check that the transmitter battery is fully charged (i.e. charged for 24 hours)
  • Check that the normal battery in your remote control is brand new
  • Change the position of the eye-emitter in relation to the infra-red IR receiver
  • Flick the switch on the bottom of the UFO to A. The default position is B through some electronic devices operate better on A
